Super Bowl: Denver Broncos fan admits on TV spending $21,000 on tickets before adding 'don’t tell my wife'
We hope the Broncos unexpected victory upset was worth it.
Many will testify there are moments in sport which take your breath away and are truly priceless. Moments like Sergio Aguero’s last-minute league title-winning goal or Usain Bolt breaking his own 100-metre world record.
For one fan, the Denver Broncos making the Super Bowl 50 final was enough to fork out $21,000 for four tickets, and a further $9,000 for all the extras like the “tailgate package”.
Justin Kerrigan spoke to NBC about his expenditure – much to the surprise of the reporter.
“$21,000… I thought you meant $2,100”, exclaimed the reporter.
Mr Kerrigan, busted by this stage, sheepishly replied, “don’t tell my wife”.
The reporter astounded by the figure, asks the loyal fan, “what if you guys lose?”
“We’re not going to… we won’t.”
And luckily for Mr Kerrigan, he was right – the Denver Broncos beat Carolina Panthers 24-10 to win Super Bowl 50.
