5 things we learned from Apple event

Apple has accidentally tweeted out the release date for its new phone.

The new phone will be released worldwide on 16 September, according to a tweet that appears to have been sent out in error.

That had been the suspected release date – since it comes on the Friday after Apple's special event. But some had suggested that it might be released later.

"iPhone 7," the message read. "The best iPhone ever, in every way that matters. Pre-order now. Available 9/16."

The tweet has since been deleted. It also linked out to a pre-order page that has now been removed.
