iPhone 7 event live: Latest updates as pictures of new Apple phone and release date leak hours before launch

Apple's September event is the biggest of the year, and as iPhone sales decline, this handset could be the most important that it has ever released

Apple is about to launch its newest phone, shockingly called the iPhone 7 – and potentially other things that might be even more important. It will all be kicking off on Wednesday at 10am pacific time, or 6pm in the UK, according to Apple's mysterious and telling event invite.

  • ​It won't have a home button
  • Or a headphone jack
  • And the design will be mostly the same
  • But it will have a hugely upgraded new camera

• There'll also be an Apple Watch 2, which will probably have new GPS features and a bigger battery

Apple's last event took place was WWDC, in June. There, it showed off iOS 10 and watchOS 3 – both of which will secretly have been built for the new products launching this week.
