The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ will feature a 3.5mm headphone jack, a new leak suggests.

The upcoming handsets are expected to support wired headphones, unlike some of the phones they will compete with.

Apple controversially dropped the headphone jack from the iPhone in 2016, and other phone companies have followed suit, including Google and HTC.

A new picture that claims to be of circuit boards for the S9+ has been published on Slashleaks, and appears to show a 3.5mm headphone jack.

While this cannot be taken as official confirmation that the S9+ and S9 will keep the traditional port, it is looking increasingly likely.

A separate leak earlier this month – of S9 and S9+ cases – indicated that both handsets would feature the port.

What’s more, Samsung recently released an advert highlighting the fact that iPhone users need to use an adapter in order to listen to music through wired headphones, which tend to offer better audio than wireless sets.

The S9 will reportedly look very similar to its predecessor, the S8.

However, Samsung is expected to make tweaks to the fingerprint scanner, which was the S8’s worst feature.

The company is shifting it to a more central position on the smartphone’s rear, leaks have claimed, which should make it easier to access and use.

Though Samsung is yet to send out invitations for a launch event, history suggests the phones will be unveiled towards the end of February.
