Send your best wishes with the world’s first LCD digital photo greeting card
Show all 2The world's first LCD digital photo greeting card lets you send images and sound to your friends and family in a paper-thin, traditional-styled card.
Euri Inc., American Greetings Corp. and Target Corp. jointly revealed the Greeting Card on January 6. The greeting card has a 2.4" LCD screen that can store up to 50 digital images or can be personalized with music or audio messages up to five minutes in length.
With the explosion of social media sites like Facebook, Flickr and YouTube, we've seen a transformation in ways consumers communicate and share," said Josiahs Livingston, director of marketing and product development at Euri. "The digital photo card goes one step beyond - creating both a highly personalized and memorable gift."
Every time the card is opened the screen is activated and the media starts playing. The cards have approximately three hours of battery and are rechargeable via USB. Euri will demonstrate the greeting cards at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, January 7 to 10.
The development of slimmer and cheaper LCD screens has resulted in a growing desire for digital-based media in physical, paper-based products. In September 2009, the first video-based advertisement appeared in an issue of US publication Entertainment Weekly, allowing readers to watch a video advertisement on a 2.7 millimeter thick screen embedded into the magazine.
The cards are priced at $19.99 and are available from Target in the US.
