With the Uncharted games now established as a central PlayStation franchise, the latest trailer released during Gamescom 2011 shows weathered treasure hunter Nathan Drake in form.
The adventurous ruffian displays trademark character traits - he's quick thinking, cheeky and loyal.
Despite sneaking into a security compound, a stealthy approach doesn't last for too long before all hell breaks loose and Drake manages to slip onto a transport plane.
There are echoes of Indiana Jones as Drake scraps with a hefty henchmen mid-flight, tottering to and fro on the plane's gaping cargo ramp.
Uncharted 3's status as a flagship title for the PlayStation 3 enables it to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Batman: Arkham City (October 18) and Assassin's Creed: Revelations (November 15) when it launches on November 1 in North America and over the following few days elsewhere.
