Travellers shop around for the best-value holiday, but the latest research from Thomas Cook suggests that few bother to compare the cost of foreign currency.
We compared the cost of buying 50,000 Greek drachmae, and the difference between the lowest, through American Express, and the highest, through Barclays, was almost pounds 3.
American Express: pounds 142.90.
National Bank of Greece: pounds 144.45
NatWest: pounds 144.50.
Thomas Cook: pounds 145.45.
Lloyds: pounds 145.73.
Barclays: pounds 145.86.
