MORE advice on how to get a student and her belongings to Toulouse (Departures, 1 August). Ms Shayne Mitchell of Cambridge recommends the train. 'There is a marvellous system where you can send ahead up to three bags, cases or trunks for about pounds 5 each. You can also send bicycles.

'You take the baggage to London Victoria a day or two previously, with your train ticket. You could also take it the day you travel, but then of course you would have to wait a day or so to pick it up. You can send baggage to any station on the Continent with a left-luggage office.'
