A Christmas Food Fair takes place at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, in Carmarthenshire, on 19 and 20 December. Visitors can taste and buy from specialist food and drink producers in the Garden's Great Glasshouse. Adult admission £9.75; children £4.95. gardenofwales.org.uk

Vine time

The new Forest Side hotel in Grasmere opens on 15 January, following a £4m renovation of its Victorian building. The restaurant is headed-up by chef Kevin Tickle, formerly of Simon Rogan's L'Enclume. Great Danes

The Danish capital is expanding its annual culinary celebrations to include twice as many events next summer. The Copenhagen Cooking & Food Festival focuses on Nordic cuisine, with gourmet experiences, workshops, children's events and a focus on sustainability. Snack and ski

The St Moritz Gourmet Festival takes place 25-29 January, with Japanese guest chefs producing special menus at hotel restaurants. Among the chefs is Nobu Matsuhisa, who will be cooking alongside the head chef at Badrutt's Palace. Tickets on sale from 1 December. stmoritz-gourmetfestival.ch
