Dorset, Greece, Australia, and Johannesburg: Great getaways
Where to go and what to see

Oz via Bangkok
Spend a fortnight exploring Western Australia's coastline by motorhome for £1,149pp, with a bonus stopover in Thailand. The Austravel deal includes Emirates flights from London via Dubai to Bangkok. It applies in the southern hemisphere's late autumn, departing 8 May. You get two nights at the four-star Century Park hotel in the Thai capital, before flying onwards to Perth for a half-day Fremantle Pinnacle tour and two weeks' motorhome hire (austravel.com).
Johannesburg jaunt
Swap the northern winter for the southern summer with week-long trip to Johannesburg for £635pp. The Expedia deal includes a room-only stay, at the four-star Park Inn Sandton, as well as Virgin Atlantic flights from Heathrow, departing 23 January (expedia.co.uk).
Greece beach break
Cosmos is selling cheap holidays either side of the school summer holidays. A self-catered week on the Greek island of Crete costs £199pp for a 15 September departure, including flights from Gatwick to Heraklion, 15kg baggage and transfers. Accommodation is in Divina Apartments, a short walk from Gouves Beach (cosmos.co.uk).
Mysterious Dorset
Broadchurch fever is upon us. The second episode of ITV's crime drama Series 2 airs tomorrow. If you are tempted to Dorset, where the drama is set. Holidaycottages.co.uk is offering a week at the Boardwalk Apartment in West Bay from 7 February for £495. The self-catering apartment, which featured in the series, sleeps four across two bedrooms and is located close to the South West Coast Path (holidaycottages.co.uk).
