Eurostar has launched a 'press for champagne' button (Eurostar)

Eurostar has launched a ‘press for champagne’ button that allows passengers to order a glass of fizz direct to their seat.

The button will be rolled out on selected trains today and on peak Friday evening services from London to Paris, Brussels, Rotterdam and Amsterdam until the end of the month.

There is a catch – only 25 customers per train will be able to get their hands on the champagne.

Customers can order it via the Eurostar app.

Assuming that each glass of champagne is a standard measure of 125ml, Eurostar will provide just over four bottles of champagne per train.

“For 25 years Eurostar has provided customers with a fast, comfortable and enjoyable way to travel,” said Marc Noaro, chief customer officer of Eurostar.

“We’re trialling a new ‘press for champagne’ button this summer to offer travellers a chance to join in the celebrations and make their trip even more special.”

The champagne button – originally introduced at London restaurant Bob Bob Ricard – has been introduced to kick off 100 days until Eurostar’s 25th anniversary in November.

The champagne button follows Eurostar redrafting its onboard alcohol consumption policy.

The train operator limits customers to one bottle of wine or four beers per passenger to ensure a “relaxing, pleasant experience”. Additionally, they can’t bring any large bottles of spirits onboard with them.

Passengers who want to bring unopened bottles of alcohol with them are allowed to do so.
