Free wifi for stranded passengers
As airlines begin a mammoth effort to get stranded passengers to their destinations after the reopening of European airspace, Skype has promised free wifi access for travelers.
The firm, which allows Skype users to access public wifi hotspots using its Skype Access service, says that internet access will be free in over 100,000 hotspots globally, including airports, from 12:00 GMT on April 21 until 23.59 GMT on Friday, April 23.
Skype Access normally requires users to buy calling credits that can be used to access chargeable hotspots.
All that is needed is a Skype Access-compatible hotspot (see list below) and the latest version of Skype which is available for download at the company's website.
