Royal escape
High street travel retailer Flight Centre has a crop of well-priced deals if you're planning to dodge the Royal Wedding weekend. A three-night trip to the canals and culture of Amsterdam costs £329 per person at the Amstel Botel, a floating hotel. The price also includes breakfast and return flights departing Heathrow on 28 April.

The Amalfi Coast has long been a favourite of the jet-set, but you don't need deep pockets to visit. Gap Adventures has an eight-day tour of this stretch of Italian coastline for £547 per person. Departing 30 April, it takes in Amalfi, Ravello, Positano and Sorrento and includes sightseeing trips to Pompeii, hiking excursions, and accommodation with breakfast; transport and a guide are included, but flights are not.
Bite the Big Apple
Now the snow is melting in New York City, a spring break has added appeal.
