Isle of Eriska: Winter is the ideal time for indulgent weekend breaks and the five-star Isle of Eriska Hotel, off the West Coast of Scotland, has one appealing option. The two-night package from 14-16 March, includes dinner, afternoon tea and breakfast on the private island for £400pp. Saturday night’s meal promises to be a highlight, with wine pairings to showcase French producers and food created by Michelin-starred chef Ross Stovold (eriska-hotel.co.uk).

Venice: Citalia has a four-night break to Venice which departs on the first day of the city’s exuberant Carnevale on 15 February. The price of £545pp includes easyJet flights from Gatwick and B&B at the Hotel San Giorgio. Up the budget to £869pp and you’ll get the same deal at the five-star Ca Sagredo, departing on 19 February (citalia.com).

Estoril coast: If you’re not bound to the school holidays, then June is the ideal time to bag a well-priced break to Europe. Classic Collection has one option, which puts you up for a week at the five-star Hotel Quinta da Marinha, on Portugal’s central Estoril coast from 4 June, with easyJet flights from Gatwick, transfers and breakfast for £669pp (classic-collection.co.uk).

Dubai: For even more exotic indulgence, consider a twin-centre holiday to Dubai and Mauritius. The deal with Hayes & Jarvis costs £1,299pp, with Emirates flights from Gatwick on 3 March, two nights’ B&B at the Hues Boutique Hotel in Dubai, connecting flights and a week’s half board at the Paradise Cove Boutique Hotel on Mauritius, with transfers and UK airport lounge access (hayesandjarvis.co.uk).
