Great getaways: Luxury in the French Pyranees, Caribbean castaway, ruraly Italy and French camping

Pyrenean Poste

L'Ancienne Poste, a luxury mountain lodge in the French Pyrenees, has cut the price of summer breaks in June, July and August. The lodge, south-east of Lourdes, is owned by qualified mountain guide and ski instructor, James Dealtry, who offers summer activities such as climbing, quad biking and white-water rafting. A week's stay costs €449pp (£384), with half-board and two full days' guided walking. Flights not included (ancienneposteavajan.com).

Caribbean castaway

The chance of an afternoon shower increases in the Caribbean from June, but top hotels cut their prices and average temperatures remain at around 28C. In Saint Lucia, for example, Hayes & Jarvis has a week at the Smugglers Cove Resort for £899pp, with all-inclusive board and Virgin flights from Gatwick on 23 June. Set on the beach near Gros Islet, the hotel has four restaurants, watersports and a spa (hayesandjarvis.co.uk).

Rural Italy

Until 30 September, i-escape.com has a week at La Granica, a rustic farmstead in Italy's Piedmont region, for £370pp, with breakfast included. The property has its own vineyard, woods and meadows, with four rooms and an outdoor pool, set in a peaceful valley near Fontanile. Flights extra (i-escape .com/la-granica).

French camping

Family holidays don't have to cost the earth. If you're willing to pitch up, Venue Holidays has a week's stay at Camping les Deux Fontaines in Brittany for £498 from 21 July. The price includes accommodation in an Espace tent for two adults and up to four children, with Dover/Calais ferry crossing and car (venueholidays.co.uk).
