Japanese baggage handler filmed cleaning luggage before passengers arrive

Candid footage shows the care and attention one airport worker gives to bags as they are unloaded

A Japanese airport employee has been videoed going above and beyond the call of duty by cleaning bags as they come onto the carousel before passengers arrive to pick them up.

The unnamed female can be seen checking the bags as they come through after being unloaded from the plane, and wiping them down with a damp, white cloth to clean off any marks.

The video was uploaded onto social media, and provides a stark contrast to other footage shared of airline staff mistreating bags in recent months.

AirAsia received negative attention after a video of baggage handlers carelessly pulling a bike from a cargo hold ramp and subsequently breaking it went viral.

CEO Riad Asmat apologised for the incident and promised to waive all fees for transporting bicycles during April.

“As a cyclist myself, I was pretty disturbed when I saw the actions of our staff. Rest assured, we’ve taken action. We are looking into the matter very seriously and stern action will be taken accordingly.

“I hope we will continue to improve ourselves.”

In response one employee of the Malaysian low-cost airline shared photos of baggage handlers kissing and cuddling bags.

Mohd Amir Izzat posted some 20 pictures on Facebook, along with the caption: “DEAR BAG, DOESN’T MATTER HOW WEIGHT IS THE BAG WAS, WE WILL HANDLE WITH KISS AND CARE......LOVE YOU BAG.

“We all apologies from all our mistake before.”

The photos show various baggage handlers with their arms wrapped around bags and suitcases while planting a kiss on them.
