You can rent an entire Maldives private island for $1m

When travel becomes possible again, there’s one way to guarantee a socially distanced holiday –having an entire island to yourself.

The Nautilus Maldives, a luxury private island, is offering guests the opportunity to book the whole resort for the sum of $1m (£716,135).

This $250,000-a-night (£179,000) resort requires that guests book up for a minimum of four nights, so the price tag could be (much, much) higher depending on the length of stay.

Comprised of 26 beach and ocean houses, the Nautilus is located in the Maldives’ Baa Atoll, a Unesco Biosphere Reserve.

Certain perks come as standard when you book your own island, including: a personal butler; complimentary daily scheduled yoga, fitness and meditation classes; daily sunset cocktails at the Naiboli Pool Bar; and a Champagne and tailor-made gourmet welcome platter upon arrival.

Guests can also enjoy free access to all non-motorised water sport activities, complimentary snorkelling equipment for use during the stay, a complimentary laundry service and a daily breakfast described as “an ‘anywhere anytime’ gastronomic all-day experience”.

The holiday starts off with the VIP treatment too, as visitors are met at the airport by the resort’s team and transported by limousine to the Nautilus’ private VIP lounge.

“Immigration and other processes will be taken care on your behalf whilst you relax,” reads the website.

From the lounge, guests are “ushered onto a seaplane for a seamless transfer to The Nautilus.”

It’s not the only brand to offer a post-pandemic private experience.

Uniworld Boutique River Cruises is offering private cruises on any of its ships, available to book in their entirety for anywhere between eight and 25 days.

Itineraries are customisable too, so travellers can choose excursions to suit their preferences, as well as menu options and even onboard entertainment for the duration.

Uniworld’s latest addition to the fleet, dubbed a “floating boutique hotel” and named the S.S. La Venezia, is available to rent from $333,900 (£240,300).

Although it sounds pricey, the vessel can accommodate 126 guests; passengers who can round up enough acquaintances to fill every room would pay a more reasonable $2,650 (£1,907) per person.
