This week has seen a flurry of hotel booking deals as much of the world turns its attention to booking a summer break.

Among the best is a deal from Starwood, the chain which operates well-known brands St Regis, The Luxury Collection, W Hotels, Sheraton, Le Meridien and Westin.

Members of Starwood Preferred Guest, the chain's loyalty scheme, can earn a free night in one of 200 resorts just by staying three nights at any Starwood hotel between May 1 and July 31 - the reward can be redeemed until December 21, making it perfect for a late summer or fall break.

Waldorf Astoria is also offering a worthwhile package for those looking at a summer break, with complimentary breakfast for under 18s and a daily resort credit which can be spent on activities such as cooking, golf or spa services.

Bookings must be made before September 5 and completed between May 27 and October 2.

French resort specialist Club Med is also running several sales, both in the US and Europe.

US and Canadian customers can get their hands on seven-night all-inclusive family packages starting from $599 per person, as long as the booking is made by July 11, while UK customers can get deals until May 11.

Californian boutique chain Joie de Vivre is emphasizing its social side, meanwhile, announcing Summer Social packages to appeal to different lifestyles - choose from bike tours, DJing lessons, shopping consultations and an amusement park package by going online to the chain's Summer Social website.
