Inside Royal Caribbean International’s £190m private island

The pimped-out resort is exclusively for Royal Caribbean guests

A cruise line has just launched the ultimate luxury outpost: a $250m (£190m) private island in the Caribbean exclusively for guests.

Royal Caribbean International has transformed a small island in the Bahamas into Perfect Day at CocoCay, a resort featuring a 135ft waterslide – the highest in North America – and a 1,600ft long zipline.

It’s an island of firsts and records, offering the Bahamas’ first over-water cabanas, the Caribbean’s largest wave pool its largest freshwater pool.

As well as plentiful dining options and a 2,600ft beachfront infinity pool, there’s also Up, Up and Away – a helium balloon that takes guests up to 450ft in the air for standout island views.

The resort is opening in stages, with all attractions set to be accessible by December 2019. However, waterparks, pools, the zip line and more are already open for business.

Perfect Day at CocoCay is exclusive to guests of the cruise line sailing on 11 of its ships from ports in Florida and the Northeast of the States.

Three-day breaks that include a stop at Perfect Day start from $317, departing Orlando, Florida onboard Mariner of the Seas.
