'Suicide', flood and faults hit London commuters

Rail passengers endured severe disruption today as emergency services dealt with what is believed to be a passenger suicide at a major station.

The incident caused delays in and out of London's Waterloo station, with some trains beginning and terminating at Clapham Junction.

Delays were expected to last until 11am.

There was also disruption to services run by National Express East Anglia due to a signalling fault between Cambridge and Stowmarket, while First Capital Connect trains were delayed by a signal problem at Cuffley in Hertfordshire.

Tube travellers also had disrupted journeys. Flooding meant that District and Circle line services were unable to operate at Victoria station.

A faulty train at Great Portland Street led to delays to Metropolitan, Circle and Hammersmith & City line services.

There was also a faulty train at Mile End which caused disruption on the Central line.

Later it was announced that delays in and out of Waterloo, which were extending to 60 minutes, would last until around 1pm.
