The summer's unmissable beaches unveiled

If you're looking for the hippest beach in the world right now, luxury beach vacation guide Beach Tomato has come up with some suggestions for the summer.

The agency announced the winners of the Beach Tomato awards June 28, selected by a panel of travel, fashion and beauty journalists, and named Baisha Beach in Taiwan the best beach in the world.

"You will be hard pushed to find a more idyllic slice of beach life," says the site of Baisha Beach, which sits within Taiwan's Kenting National Park.

"Its remoteness and location in a beautiful national park gives you that sense of 'my own discovery' that we all love to feel when we set foot on a beach."

For the revelers who prefer a night out to a national park, the best beach to head to is La Barra in Uruguay, described as having "a rolling calendar of pool parties and frolicking festivals, all of which blasts off in spectacular fashion on New Year's Eve."

In the People's Choice categories, which were selected by over 50,000 readers of Beach Tomato, Jamaica took an award for best island, beating competition from the likes of Maui in Hawaii, Isla Mujeres in Mexico, Spain's Ibiza, Zanzibar in Tanzania, Lombok in Indonesia and Heron Island in Australia's Whitsunday Islands.

In an attempt to differentiate itself from the plethora of other destination awards out there, Beach Tomato also selected some of its favorite beach accessories.

The best sunscreen, said the site, is Clarins Sun Wrinkle Control Cream for Face, while Sisley Intensive Anti-cellulite Contouring Care was voted best beach prep and Moroccanoil Oil Treatment was judged best hair product.

And if, for whatever reason, there is no beach holiday in store for you this year - the best self tan is St Tropez Naturals?, apparently.
