In Plymouth, the Peninsula Arts Contemporary Music Festival and Polish Festival celebrate the centenary of Chopin's birth, with classical, jazz and electronic music, singing robots, art exhibitions and talks, until 7 March ( peninsula-arts.co.uk ).

The Hindu world will be awash with colour on Monday for the festival of Holi. Brightly coloured powder and water are thrown by revellers to commemorate the escape from a fire by Prahlad, a devotee of Vishnu. Meanwhile, "France by the Sea" is a new photography exhibition opening at the National Geographic Store in London on Monday. The pictures depict life in 25 French coastal resorts, and the show runs until 7 March ( uk.franceguide.com ).

In the diary

A new resort is coming to Queensland, Australia. The Quay West Resort and Spa opens in Noosa on 18 March with bright, design-focused apartments, views of Noosa Sound and a national park on the doorstep ( mirvachotels.com ).
