Travel Agenda: London's Tune Hotel; Sweden's Bothnia Line; New York Palace; London to Chambéry
Today: The first guests will be waking up in a former building society HQ in south London, which has become the first Tune Hotel in Europe. The location – opposite Lambeth North tube station – is handy for South Bank attractions, and offers low rates to early bookers (tunehotels.com).
This week: The Swedes will be celebrating the "rolling inauguration" of the Bothnia Line, with a VIP train on the line from Umea to Ornskoldsvik on Thursday and King Carl Gustaf XVI conducting the opening ceremony next Saturday. It will open up north-east Sweden to rail travellers (botniabanan.se). Meanwhile, visitors to Midtown Manhattan can now indulge al fresco at the New York Palace's summer lounge, Palace Gate. The courtyard spot comes from the team behind the hotel's two-Michelin starred restaurant (palacegatenyc.com).
In the diary: From 18 December, British Airways will be offering a four-times-weekly link to Chambéry in the French Alps from London City airport – just in time for the start of the ski season.
