Travel Agenda: Royal Academy of Arts' new exhibition; New York's restaurant week, Madrid's Gastrofestival; Adventure Travel Live show; Villa Clarisse
Today: Visit the Royal Academy of Arts' new major exhibition in London celebrating modern British sculpture. Opening today, it features work from Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore, Julian Opie and Damien Hirst; until 7 April ( royalacademy.org.uk).
This week: Forget your new year's resolutions: in New York, the annual restaurant week (it's on for two) starts on Monday with top restaurants offering discounted menus ( nycgo.com/restaurantweek). In Madrid, the Gastrofestival runs on the same dates with tasting sessions, guided visits and culinary events ( madridfusion.net). But to stay healthy, aim for the Royal Horticultural Halls in London where the Adventure Travel Live show starts on Friday ( adventuretravellive.com).
In the diary: The Hotel de Toiras on the Ile de Ré is opening a sister hotel, Villa Clarisse, in May. The 18th-century hôtel particulier is in the throes of renovation and will feature nine bedrooms with interiors by Pierre-Yves Rochon and a heated pool ( villaclarisse.com).
