1. School’s out
Miss Clara Hotel has opened in a century-old building in Stockholm that once acted as the Ateneum school for girls. Named after the former head mistress, it now has 92 rooms, a downstairs gym and sauna, and a lively street-level restaurant on Sveavagen boulevard. Doubles Sk1,192 (£110).
2. Box fresh
Snoozebox will debut at Glastonbury this year. Designed for festivalgoers who like their creature comforts, each cube-like room comes with a flat-screen TV, power sockets, an en-suite wet room and key-card entry. The price for not sleeping with your head in a puddle? A cool £1,995 per double for five nights.
3. Pedal power
Iceland hosts a “cyclothon” around the country from 24-27 June. Starting in Reykjavik, keen cyclists can pedal around Highway 1, an 827-mile ring road that loops around the entire island. The non-stop relay race involves teams of one, four or 10 riders. Registration closes on 20 May and costs from Isk15,000 (£80)pp.
4. Flight time
Cathay Pacific has announced it will launch direct flights from Manchester to its hub in Hong Kong. The four-times-weekly service will depart every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 8 December. Tickets are sale now with returns starting at £659.

5. Dolce vita
Alastair Sawday’s new Italy guide is on sale from Monday. Browse the 135 new places to stay, from Follonico, a traditional Tuscan casale near Siena (doubles €135) to La Macina, a set of 200-year-old Puglian trulli buildings converted into self-catering cottages (€650 per week).
6. Night owls
Ian Schrager’s London Edition hotel in Fitzrovia has an “Epic Night Out” package for party animals. 7. Thai life
Finnair is due to introduce new scheduled flights from Helsinki to Krabi in Thailand – with regular connections from Heathrow and Manchester. The link will open up a destination that has previously only been available on a charter basis. It will run to Krabi twice weekly from 10 December.
8. Cut above
When ill health prevented Henri Matisse from painting, he took to composing cut-out collages. Now, a new exhibition at Tate Modern in London looks at this definitive era in the French artist’s life. More than 120 works will be on display from Thursday, until 17 September; £16.30.
