The Allure of the Seas sets sail on her maiden voyage December 1, becoming the largest cruise ship in the world (officially sharing the title with her sister ship the Oasis of the Seas). New innovations on board include the first Starbucks at sea and characters from DreamWorks animation such as Shrek.

Allure of the Seas is the sister ship of Oasis of the Seas, the world's largest cruise liner, and is reportedly slightly larger still, meaning that she will take the title on her launch. She will span 16 decks, encompass 225,282 gross registered tons, carry 5,400 guests at double occupancy, and feature 2,700 staterooms and 24 restaurants on board.

Paris Nautic

Nautic is one of Europe's main boat shows and this year organizers are going all out for the 50th anniversary. Over 235,000 visitors are expected at Paris's Porte de Versailles to see new unveilings from French and international manufacturers and special exhibitions such as cooking at sea and regional showcases.

The world-famous Icehotel opens to the public for another season, promising cooler artwork, architecture and of course rooms than ever before. An international team of over 50 artists and sculptures work to create the hotel from locally-sourced ice, only to see their creation melt again when spring comes.

Shangri-La Paris Opens

Boasting a private suite that used to be the home of Napoleon's grand-nephew Prince Roland, the Shangri-La Paris is set to be a high-profile addition to Paris' luxury hotel scene. It offers 81 rooms designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon and three restaurants.

London Boat Show
January 7-16

New additions to the 2011 London Boat Show include a family area, an indoor watersports action pool and an improved layout which will see the addition of further exhibitions dedicated to outdoors activities and cycling during the final days of the show. Old favorites of the show such as the Classic Boat workshop will also be making a return, along with  over 1,000 boats on display for guests.
