Aircraft from all over Europe will descend on Tannheim this weekend for the annual Tannkosh Festival, an aviation enthusiast's dream. Next week, US brand Aloft brings its trendy loft-style hotel theme to Europe with the first European property opening in Brussels.

Tannkosh, as the name suggests, is the European incarnation of the Oshkosh aviation festival, and over 1,000 aircraft are expected to fly in if the weather is good. The festival offers everything for aviation enthusiasts, including vintage airplanes, sports planes, fireworks and a lively social scene.

Aloft Brussels Opens

Starwood's chic Aloft chain makes its first entry to Europe on September 1 with the opening of the Aloft Brussels. It's the first of an expansion drive that will see a further hotel in London by 2012 - the Brussels Aloft will feature 147 rooms, with free wifi, a grab-and-go snack bar and the "xyz" bar/club.

Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Conference

The Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Conference (ESTC) is the largest such gathering in North America and one of the best places to observe the latest trends coming out of the green tourism industry. PSP Southampton International Boat Show

Over 121,000 visitors came to PSP Southampton last year, making it the largest outdoor event of its kind in the UK. Although the show is a precursor to the winter London International Boat Show, Southampton focuses strongly on "lifestyle" boating for the general public, with 1000 boats on show and models available for sale from £389 (€467).

Grand Pavois de la Rochelle

Like PSP Southampton, Grand Pavois is another in-water fair and the precursor to the Nautic Paris indoor show in December. Over 700 boats are displayed from 870 exhibitors, as well as a themed "Guest of Honor" exhibit, this year showcasing Tahiti, which will be displaying the best of its culture.

Edition Waikiki Opens

The Savoy Hotel Reopens
