THE CROSS-CHANNEL car ferries have plenty of problems at the moment dealing with competition from Eurotunnel. But when Stena Sealink announced that it would offer the world's first floating McDonald's - on its ferry Fantasia - it was confident that Eurotunnel could not respond.
Stena Sealink's managing director, Gareth Cooper, said: 'This is another tunnel- beater, particularly for families. They'll never be able to buy a Big Mac on a Channel tunnel train.'
Sadly, for him, this impressive strike turned rapidly into an own goal. McDonald's has just won the fast-food franchise at the Folkestone Eurotunnel terminal.
