The latest edition of Planet Talk, the free newsletter from the publishers Lonely Planet (081-742 3161) warns of 'the infamous Thai cockroach'. This creature, apparently the size of a small mouse, has been known to devour wallets and cigarettes. The solution, a contributor suggests, is to 'shove a pair of socks into the drains in the bathroom before retiring for the evening'.
