Q. I have booked a family holiday for a two-week trip to Cyprus this August. We've only paid a small deposit so far. Given the economic crisis do you think it prudent to cancel now rather than risk thousands on a holiday which is now at risk?

Peter Gross

A. No: I urge you to go ahead with your trip as planned - because I predict the holiday will be excellent, and that the fuss over failing banks will have died away as they restructure. This online guide - bit.ly/CypCash - should help you to make sense of minor meltdown.

My only real concern: that you'll get too hot, because in August the eastern Mediterranean can feel oppressively warm.
