IN THE Channel, a new express ferry goes into service today, linking Jersey and Guernsey with the Breton port of St Malo. Times on Emeraude Lines (0534 66566) are nearly halved compared with the previous schedule, with the trip from Jersey to France taking only 70 minutes. The return fare for a car and two people is pounds 85.
