FOLLOWING the story Airport '94: Nigeria in these pages last Saturday, the Foreign Office has updated its advice to Lagos-bound travellers: 'Businessmen

should check the credentials of local contacts thoroughly, and if in doubt consult the Nigerian Desk of the Department of Trade and Industry (071-215 4966).' Visitors are also warned of the high incidence of street crime and armed robbery: 'Travel outside cities after dark is unsafe.'

For more information on Nigeria or anywhere else, call the Foreign Office travel advice unit on 071-270 4129, or consult BBC 2 Ceefax, page 564.
