JANET MANSFIELD (Independent Traveller, 10 July) complained of a shortage of good budget accommodation in the Dover/Folkestone area. Carolyn Dickinson of Bradwell recommends the Whitbread-owned Travel Inn chain which has a hotel (0304 213339) situated on the A20 coast road between Dover and Folkestone, one and a half miles from Dover. It offers a family room with en suite bathroom for pounds 33.50 per night - it also has a Beefeater restaurant next door.

Margaret Wall of Newcastle upon Tyne says that Glencoe Farm (0797 224347) in Rye is a good B&B place with accommodation at pounds 13.50 per person per night.
