MAURICE YAFFE was a clinical psychologist at London's Guy's Hospital who, during the Eighties, pioneered important work in helping people deal with air travel anxiety. I attended a number of his seminars and saw at first-hand how, with a mixture of charm, good humour and psychology, he could coax a roomful of nervous fliers on to a BA flight to Paris.
Mr Yaffe's sudden death at an early age is to be commemorated by a trust fund which will to help further research and treat the fear of flying. If you wish to contribute, please contact: Maurice Yaffe Memorial Fund, Trust Department, Charities Aid Foundation, Coach & Horses Passage, The Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells, Kent TN2 5TZ. The fund will also provide information on fear-of-flying courses.
