THOMSON Holidays has come up with a good way of cutting complaints: it gives away money. Brian Crompton of Skegness was one of the holidaymakers booked on a Thomson package to Italy's Lido de Jesolo. 'The hotel was advertised in the brochure as having a sea view, but to see the sea one had to step on to the balcony.' Mr Crompton was not so churlish as to complain, but 'in recognition of the slight discrepancy we each received a rebate of pounds 25, despite not having asked.' Since Thomson makes, on average, pounds 7 on each holiday booking, this is generous indeed.
