Give to GOSH 12 Days of Christmas – Emilia Fox.mp4

Actress Emilia Fox has used a special Christmas message to urge for donations to The Independent's Great Ormond Street Hospital appeal.

The 41-year-old star, best known for playing forensic pathologist Dr Nikki Alexander in BBC crime drama Silent Witness, is the latest celebrity to feature as part of our festive countdown to December 25.

In the 12 Days of Christmas video, Fox appeals for cash to help pay for state-of-the art genetic testing equipment, which supports doctors with the diagnosis of rare genetic conditions in children.

“Your donation to the Give to GOSH appeal could help fund a DNA preparation robot to speed up and improve the precision of genetic testing,” she said.

“What would have taken scientists three weeks to do manually can be done in three days of genetic testing using the robot, helping children to receive a rapid, accurate diagnosis and access the treatment they need as soon as possible.”

With her Christmas message Fox joins Strictly Come Dancing's Katie Durham and comic John Bishop, who appealed for your help to support “one extraordinary hospital”.

A-listers including David Beckham and Johnny Depp have also thrown their weight behind The Independent's record-breaking campaign, which topped one million pounds last week.

If you Give to GOSH, your donation will be matched by the Government, doubling its amount. To donate go to: http://ind.pn/1Mydxqt
