IT ISN'T surprising that memories of the words of 'The Red Flag' vary, since it has been repeatedly parodied. One version does indeed run: 'The working-class can kiss my arse /I've got the foreman's job at last.' Another is: 'Then raise the dear old standard high /

Old Labour leaders never die.' Yet another, perhaps appropriate today, is: 'The people's flag is palest pink / It's not so red as you might think.'

COULD not Keith Flett (Letters, 2 October) and Nicolas Walter (Letters, 9 October) settle their apparently numerous disagreements over a pint and leave your letters page free
