MY FELLOW Orpington resident M W Cuming (Letters, 12 July) attempts to defend British Rail at the expense of the airline industry. But she or he was waiting at Zurich, having been told the length of delay expected and its cause. The majority of us who leave Orpington daily spend many hours each year waiting on platforms and being told absolutely nothing.
