Letter: A Prime Minister fortified by the unloved and unfit
LYNN BARBER ('How I fell out of love after the honeymoon', 4 April) suggests John Major must enjoy the sight of children begging on the streets. I doubt that he's seen them. He doesn't use public transport, or walk from station to office, but is cocooned in his chauffeur-driven car, protected from the realities of the Britain his party has created.
Only when the decision-makers experience the miseries caused by deliberate neglect of less fortunate people and public infrastructure will they be moved to act.
