I BELIEVE Lord Tebbit, far from making a racialist slur with his epithet 'tar baby' (Letters, 21 February), is actually making a point about Britain becoming stuck in its ditherings over Maastricht. The term comes from the story of Brer Rabbit and the Tar-Baby by Joel Chandler Harris.
