Letter: Catholic community

Sir: Richard Dawkins seems to be mystified by the phrase 'Roman Catholic children' (letter, 20 May). Is this because he thinks that Roman Catholicism is an ideology? In fact it is a community. Hence the phrase works in the same way as 'British children'. Furthermore, Roman Catholic children are not branded. They are baptised.

Yours faithfully,

PETER SANDERS
