Letter: Degrees of training

Sir: Your article, 'Cutting out the cutting up' (17 December), quoted me as saying that vivisection serves no educational purpose. Your reporter did not report me correctly.

Vivisection is a necessary part of training for some students. The point I made to your reporter was that I would not expect it to be a compulsory part of a degree course in biology.
