Letter: Denied access to the countryside

Sir: I am delighted that the Country Landowners' Association is so anxious to be friends with the Ramblers Of course, the gap is between the rhetoric of the CLA leadership and the lack of action by local landowners in keeping paths clear.

Take one example, from a county not known for bad paths. Oxfordshire County Council's recent path survey shows that two-thirds of footpaths across fields in the county were not reinstated as required by law. Hardly a "positive approach" and "constructive action".
