Letter: Durham's first

Sir: We were delighted to hear that Rabbi Julia Neuberger has become chancellor of the University of Ulster ('Double First', 26 January), but would like to point out that a non-royal female chancellor has already been appointed in a UK university, namely the late Dame Margot Fonteyn de Arias.

She was installed as chancellor of the University of Durham in 1982 and held office until her unfortunate death in 1991.
