Letter: National disaster

Sir: Did most of us not at least giggle over Saturday's chaos at Aintree? Such a shame that there is no English equivalent to that wonderful German term Schadenfreude - the enjoyment experienced through someone else's failures or misfortunes. It is an enjoyment not uncommon to most of us British - least of all on Saturday last.

Yours faithfully,

MICHAEL McGOVERN
