Sir: Further to Katie Makower's letter (21 April) concerning Elisabeth Frink's sculpture in Paternoster Square, her view of its spiritual or religious significance is borne out by the facts. To my knowledge, the sculpture was commissioned on the initiative of the Church Commissioners who invited several sculptors to submit designs specifically for the title 'Paternoster' because of the significance of the site adjacent to the cathedral church of our capital city.
Elisabeth Frink's design was duly commissioned and the sculpture was unveiled by Yehudi Menuhin on 30 July 1975.
Yours faithfully,
