Letter: Pop goes the cred of someone called Fritz

FRITZ SPEIGL complained (Letters, 28 June) about 'someone called Prince (who I am told is a pop entertainer)'. I've since worked out that Fritz Speigl is, in fact, an anagram of 'outraged of Tonbridge' and the only surprise was that he stopped short of droning on about how modern music didn't have proper tunes and how you can't hear the words.

I myself own several gramophone records by the aforementioned Mr Prince and like nothing better than slapping one on my trusty Dansette Music Centre and tapping a fevered toe. As far as I'm concerned, he ranks comfortably alongside other contemporary giants of the genre, such as the Beverley Sisters and Frank Ifield.

So come on crazy daddio, get hip to the beat (man), have your pipe and slippers surgically removed and get a life, while stocks last.
