Letter: Quick cash

Nigel Pascoe QC, of the Bar Council, says that the QC system recognises ability "in the same way as the appointment of a hospital consultant" ("Barristers attacked for price-fixing as think-tank calls for silk cut", 2 February). Not in remuneration it doesn't! The NHS pays a hospital consultant approximately pounds 150 a day while, on your figures, a QC gets pounds 1,350 a day from legal aid. Does QC stand for Questionable Comparisons?
