Sir: How heartily I agree with Lord Russell (letter, 9 April). For too long, professionalism in teaching has been seen as synonymous with loyalty to policies made by government ministers and local authority advisers, many of whom have little or no relevant classroom experience.
Let us pledge our professional loyalty where it truly belongs - to the children we teach.
