1. Ellie Ellie Pumpkin Face Halloween Children’s Sweatshirt Jumper: £23, Not on the High Street
For little terrors who would climb out of costumes or for shyer ones who cannot be persuaded to wear a full pumpkin outfit, this jumper can be worn with jeans as a Halloween outfit alternative. It comes in classic orange or black and in sizes three to 11 years. Our little tester loved wearing it (it’s 50 per cent cotton), and picked it out as the best of the bunch – you can’t argue with that.
2. Disney Death Trooper Deluxe Costume for Kids, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story: £35.99, Disney Store
This all-in-one Death Trooper outfit (available in ages four to 13) is certainly scary and something little Star Wars fans will love - it also comes with a plastic mask to complete the look. You know with the Disney Store you’re getting the real deal and on closer inspection we thought it looked very authentic, with extra detail on the mask and suit that often disappear on cheaper outfits. It’s great for general fancy dress too.
3. Bobo Choses Abracadabra Knitted Jumper: £55, Cissy Wears
If your child loves fairy tales involving witches and wizards or casting spells on fluffy toys, they’ll love this magic jumper from kids boutique Cissy Wears. It’s not strictly a Halloween costume, or spooky enough to scare anyone but matched with a pair of Bobo Choses Steel Grey Hypnotised Slimfit Trousers your eyes will go all funny and you won’t be able to look away. And because it’s not strictly a costume, your little one can wear it all year round too.
4. John Lewis Boys’ Glow in the Dark Skeleton Onesie: £20-24, John Lewis
This spooky skeleton get up is available in ages three to 14 years and is super-comfy to wear (it’s 100 per cent cotton). With a bit of white face paint to complete the skeleton look, kids will love going trick or treating in this, and will also learn the names of bones around the body with the handy labels. After Halloween, it’s ideal for bedtime or sleepovers.
5. Disney Rapunzel Costume Dress for Kids: £24.99, Disney Store
If your little one doesn’t like the idea of dressing up in something scary, the Disney Store has a great range of princess outfits, with everything from Elsa in Frozen to this cute Tangled-inspired Rapunzel dress. And we have to admit, it’s rather impressive. The bodice detail, puff sleeves and glitter mean your child really will look like the character, and the stretchy fabric means it’s easy to get on and off. Just be careful, the glitter does go everywhere. Available for three to 12-year-olds.
6. The Bright Company Bat Jyms Halloween Special: £30, The Bright Company
The Bright Company specialises in unisex sleepwear and has created this bat print pyjama set especially for Halloween. You can attach the wings with poppers that run along the collar and sleeves to create the perfect outfit to fly around the house in. And when it’s bedtime your little one can curl up in bed in this comfy, organic cotton set. The poppers are extra strong though, so make sure you don’t pull the fabric when you take the wings off. Available in sizes six months to 12 years.
7. M&S Kids’ Super Girl Dress: £18-22, M&S
M&S has a fantastic range of Halloween costumes for kids, including witches, pirates and fairies. But we thought this Super Girl dress is a great option for those into saving the planet. It’s available in sizes three to 12 years and is easy to take on and off, with Velcro fastening at the back, and comes with a rather cool matching super hero mask.
8. Pearl Lowe Harlequin Jumpsuit: £125, Pearl Lowe
For those willing to part with a little more money, this diamond-design jumpsuit from designer Pearl Lowe is the perfect clown costume for Halloween. Pearl’s daughter Daisy Lowe is currently on Strictly Come Dancing, and her edgy range of luxury kids clothing is inspired by her own children. Suitable for ages two to 12 years, this outfit, matched with some joker-inspired face paint, is sure to get any little one looking super scary. This chiffon all-in-one is also extremely soft and easy to put on. It’s a simple outfit that can also be worn to other fancy dress parties too.
9. M&S Kids’ Pirate Boy Costume Dress Up (three to 12 years): £18-22, M&S
This fun pirate costume is ideal for Halloween parties and there’s a matching one for girls too. It’s easy to get on and off, with a Velcro fastening on the back of the top and elasticated waistband on the trousers. The pirate’s captain hat is also included to complete the look. It’s a great outfit for mini pirates to collect their trick or treat chocolate loot in.
10. My 1st Years Spider Halloween Basket: £10, Not on the High Street
My 1st Years personalises kids items to make them that little bit more special and this named trick or treat bag is an enjoyable way for your child to collect their Halloween haul. It also comes beautifully wrapped, so will feel like a real treat for little Halloween lovers. It’s sturdy, and big enough to hold enough sweets to trick or treat around your neighbourhood in one trip.
11. Alice Cook Designs Custom Superhero Cape with Initials: £35, Not on the High Street
Another way to personalise your tot’s fancy dress is by splashing out on this bold superhero cape, where you can pick the initial to go on it. You can also pick the colours to make it exactly how you want it. It’s a simple way to transform any outfit into one fit for a super hero needing to fight Halloween ghouls and ghosts. We loved this colour combo for Superman style and it’s perfect for the fancy dress box after October 31.
12. Stella McCartney Kids Cream with Gold Foil Bones Billy Sweater: £57, Alex and Alexa
If you want to really treat you little one, then Stella McCartney has Halloween covered. Her versatile Halloween collection has everything from skeleton hoodies to glow in the dark ghost t shirts. This cream jumper with golden bones on is our favourite though; it’s a more stylish version of supermarket skeleton costumes, which can also be worn past Halloween. It’s great for putting under coats and is machine washable. This can also eventually be handed down to younger siblings, as it’s good quality (100 per cent cotton). Available in sizes two to 14 years.
